DAY ONE!

So I finally made it to Indonesia! I grabbed my shovel and dug for like two days, and I finally made it though to the other side of the world. Got kind of tough when I encountered Jules Verne's dinosaurs and sea monsters and such, but once I got through the center of the earth it was all downhill from there. And boy, are my arms sore from all that shoveling. Oh, wait, maybe that's just me being sore from sitting on an airplane. Either way, I made it, and I sit here now with Emily across from me as I blog.

I am so confused by time... I left like two days ago? I think, at 10 am, and it is a day later and 8:00 pm now. i have not really slept yet... so I'm running on fumes!

The flights, though long, went fairly well. I got a good workout at the San Francisco airport... I had to run laps around the airport to find the plane and get a boarding pass. But I made it, just in time! Sat next to a sweet girl from Hong Kong on the way over; she was very helpful in me finding out where I needed to go in the airport.

Here are some pics from the sky above Hong Kong, right at sunset:

The window was dirty and the sky was foggy, but you can see all the big tall buildings, all shaped alike, nestled in the hills. There are huge buildings everywhere!!!

And check out the fanciness of the plane I was on. Man, that's first class for you. But, I couldn't complain too much for my economy seat, either.

This sign made me laugh a lot.

Perhaps it was just the delirium of being so tired, but beware of electric cars... that's silly. Like "beware of dog".... but instead of a big scary dog, it's a goofy electric car.

And of course, me being me, I had to get some candy while in Hong Kong...

So then I flew to Singapore and spent some time in the airport. Very cool airport. Apparently they have a huge slide there... in the airport. I'm going to check it out next time I go through. while in Singapore, I tried, mostly unsuccessfully, to get some sleep. In the morning, I hopped on a ferry, and 45 minutes later, I made it to Indonesia!!!

Emily greeted me at the ferry. Hello Emily! Then she took me to the local mall where we meandered through a grocery store. Foreign grocery stores are my favorite. Like seriously. I could walk around for hours and look at all the cool foreign stuff. Here's Emily with a huge grapefruit:
Cuttlefish flavored chips, anyone?
I think I'll pass on the cuttlefish. How about some Gado-Gado? Salad with spicy peanut sauce. mmmmm.

After lunch, we experienced a real tropical rain storm. I love thunderstorms.

We went to a get-together with all the people that Em works with... check out all the yummy food.
Here's some of the team posing for a picture. It was so fun to meet all of them!

Ok, well I'm exhausted now, so I'm off to bed! Hopefully I won't wake up in the middle of the night confused by the time.

Hasta Luego!
